Dimitris Papadimitriou was born in 1971 in Thessaloniki and grew up in Athens where he graduated with honors from the Varvakeio Standard School. He received his Medical Degree and his Doctoral Dissertation on Pediatric Endocrinology at the Medical Department of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Patras. He initially specialized in Pediatrics for 4 years at the Regional General University Hospital of Patras.

He then retrained for 4 years in Pediatric Endocrinology in France. He received a two-year Master's Degree (DIU) in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology from the Université Paris V, with clinical training at the St Vincent de Paul University Pediatric Hospital in Paris. He also retrained for 1 year (master) in Medical Pedagogy at the Joseph-Fourier University of Grenoble in France, where he worked as a Lecturer – Head of the University Clinic (Chef de Clinique des Universités) with the subject of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology in a regular salaried organizational position of Grenoble University Hospital for 2 years.

He then returned to Greece and since December 2005, organized and directed the Department of Pediatrics - Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes of the Athens Pediatric Center in Marousi, while he was a Special Scientific Associate, University and Academic Scholar of the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens in Attiko Hospital for 12 years (2006-2017). He was in charge of the Endocrinology Clinic of the Adolescent Health Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic E.K.P.A. for 2 academic years (2015-2017).

As the culmination of his scientific journey, in September 2019 he applied for the position of Associate Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Since May 2021, he has been serving as an Academic Scholar at the PMS "Research in Female Reproduction" at the Reception Clinic for Adolescents with Endocrine Diseases of the Endocrinology Unit of the 2nd Obstetrics-Gynecology Clinic E.K.P.A. He does teaching work both in PMS, as well as in the undergraduate compulsory optional courses of Endocrinology and Neonatology.

He has 42 full publications in SCI international journals (indexed in Pubmed), of which 18 in the last 5-years, with h-index 16 (5-yr h-index 12), h-10 index 18 (5-yr h-10 index 13) and 685 total citations of which 381 are from 2017. He also has at least 56 published abstracts in supplements of international journals of which 46 are found in google scholar and 7 are indexed in Pubmed Central.
